In 1959 Dr. Fred M. Barlow was elected National Sunday school consultant for Regular Baptist Press and the General Association of Regular Baptist Churches. He held pastorates in New York, Ohio and Michigan.
Then he began a ministry to local churches and multi-church Sunday school conferences; held evangelistic campaigns; gave addresses to Bible colleges and seminaries; and was active in summer Bible camp evangelism and youth rallies. His sermons have been prize winners in sermon contests held by the Sword of the Lord.
He was the author of several books, including: Vitalizing Your Sunday School Visitation, Special Days in the Sunday School, Timeless Truths, Profiles in Evangelism...Revival for Survival...and several smaller booklets, including a biography of John R. Rice.
Dr. Barlow was a native of southeastern West Virginia. He graduated from Baptist Bible Seminary (now Baptist Bible College of Pennsylvania, Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania) and received an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from Western Baptist Bible College, Salem, Oregon. Dr. and Mrs. Barlow were parents of four children. Dr. Barlow died in 1983.
