"Grace be with you, and mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love." 2 John 3
Here is a three-fold blessing bestowed by John: "Grace, mercy and peace from the Son of the Father." This is the testimony of the Father: "This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased" and He is the only begotten of the Father. There is no separation between Father and Son. There is a union which is unbreakable. "He that hath seen me hath seem the Father." "I and My father are One." The blessing is to be bestowed in "truth and love." Truth without love may be cold, hard, harsh. Love without truth may be purely sentimental, but, when combined, they truly represent the message of "the Son of the Father," for the Son is the Truth, manifested in Love.
We pray, our Father, that this benediction of grace, mercy and peace may rest upon us this day as we meditate upon "the Son of the Father." Amen.
