"My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ, the righteous." 1 John 2:1
Sin is the existing nature of man. God, in love, has recognized the need of man and has made provision for that need. We sin when we "come short of the glory of God." So Christ becomes our Advocate or "One who comes alongside," which is the meaning of "advocate." He comes to stand by us. When Satan charges us with sin, Christ represents us and defends us. He is the Attorney who handles our case. His propitiation (or covering for sin) is manifested in all His work for us-in His life, His death, His resurrection, His ascension and His intercession.
Lord, we thank Thee that thou dost appear for us and through Thee, we are all accepted by our Heavenly Father. Amen.
