"Our Lord Jesus, that Great Shepherd of the sheep" Hebrews 13:20
In the sixth chapter of Mark we have a touching picture of our Lord Jesus. He had been apart with His disciples in a desert place and, "when He saw much people He was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd, and He began to teach them many things." He was the promised Shepherd. He is here pictured as the Grest Shepherd, raised from the dead, sanctified by the blood of the everlasting covenant, which is able to make us "perfect in every good work to do His will" (v. 21). How? By working in us and through us that which pleases Himself.
Lord, we are Thy sheep. Take us, mold us, and make of us that which shall please Thee, and we will give Thee all the glory. Amen.
