"And being made perfect, He became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey Him." Hebrews 5:9
Christ was perfected through suffering. He was obedient unto death, even the death of the cross, and through the hard, cruel, sacrificial journey which He made to the cross-suffering beyond the power of thought to comprehend, He perfected a way by which men could be saved. When He bore our sin on the cross, the unchanging law of God was in operation, and He suffered separation from God. There was but one way by which sinful men could be made righteous, and that was by the Savior's taking our place, which He did, and now His obedient followers share with Him the glory.
In every time of testing, sorrow or suffering, may we look to Thee, our eternal salvation, and find the promised comfort and help. Amen.
