"Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec." Hebrews 5:6
He is our High Priest, our Great High Priest, and He is also a Priest forever after the similitude of Melchisedec (Gen. 14:18-20) that strange character who typified our Lord. Will Christ be our representative throughout eternity? Yes- and we will be His representatives throughout eternity. For our new life is eternal. Our habitation will be eternal. How it warms our hearts to think of that word "forever" in connection with our relation to Christ! He is our eternal High Priest and we are to be kings and priests in association with HIm (Rev. 1:6). We are poor, undone, heel-deserving sinners, but through Him, we are lifted to eternal heights.
Lord, Thou great High Priest, help us to honor Thee by lip and life. Amen.
