"And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given Himself...a sacrifice to God." Ephesians. 5:2
God's holiness and righteousness demanded some way by which sin could be forgiven and removed, so that sinful men could have access to Him and live in fellowship with Him. There was only one way. Sin -violation of law -must be punished and the sinner must be justified from all things. The law of Moses could not do this. The offerings of the Old Testament could not do it. But God had a way. So "now once in the end of the age hath He appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself." "It is finished" were His words on the cross. Through His sacrifice our sins were washed away and rights and titles to Heaven granted us.
Lord, forbid that we should ever hesitate to sacrifice all for Thee! Amen.
