      "And did all drink the same spiritual drink; for they drank of that Rock that followed them; and that Rock was Christ." 1 Cor. 10:4

      Paul is calling attention to the journey of the children of Israel through the wilderness and comparing it to the life of the church. They were supernaturally supplied daily with food and water. The water was a gift from God; symbolizing the Water of Life which springs from the spiritual Rock, which is Christ. He is our Rock, and from His riven side flow rivers of living water. How often we have sung, "Jesus the Water of Life will give, freely, freely, freely" -and then how often we have forgotten to slake our thirst from that fountain which will never cease to flow down through the ages.

      Lord Jesus, our spiritual Rock, help us to drink freely of Thy living water today. Amen.
