Jesus of Nazareth

By Bible Names of God

"And I answered, Who art Thou, Lord? And He said unto me, I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom thou persecutest." Acts 22:8

More than twenty times in the Scriptures is our Lord called "Jesus of Nazareth." Here it is remarkable. Paul is telling the story of his conversion. He is bound with chains, a prisoner, in the hands of the Roman authorities. He says that the words which come to him from the Heavens were "Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou Me?" And in answer to his question, "Who art Thou, Lord?" came the answer, "I am Jesus of Nezareth." That is His name now. From the glory He acknowledges His earthly title- "Jesus of Nazareth." Jesus is God. He made the worlds, but He acknowledges the little obscure town of Nazareth, His "home town" down here.

Jesus of Nazareth, we want to be one with Thee. Guide us to Thy glory. Amen.
