      "For of a truth against Thy holy child Jesus, whom Thou hast anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together." Acts 4:27

      Peter and John are before the Council to be examined in connection with the miracle of the healing of the lame man. They gave their testimony to the fact that it was in the despised name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth that this had been done. The Council could do naught but let them go. They went at once to the place where the church were gathered together and reported what had been done and the assembly lifted their voices in thanksgiving, glorifying the name of the "Holy Child Jesus" against whom His enemies were gathered. They prayed that in the name of this Holy Child Jesus signs and wonders might be wrought and they were.

      Lord Jesus, we thank thee that they are being wrought today and will be until Thou dost come again. Amen.
