Mark 6:3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him. {offended: scandalized in, or, by him, to stumble because of him}
The Carpenter, the "Son of Mary", has come back to His home town from an evangelistic trip in which He had worked many miracles. The people were astonished at His teaching. Prejudice possessed them. (The become a "lynch-mob") "Is not this the Son of Mary?" We never worship Mary as do our Catholic friends, but we do honor her above all women --- God's chosen vessel to bring forth His Son and fulfill His prophesy. How true He was to the last. See Him on the cross, and hear His last words to Mary, "Woman, behold thy son" (John the beloved, to whom He had said, "Behold thy mother.") Blessed title --- "Son of Mary"!
The Babe Who is one day to rule the world at Whose feet we shall bow in worshipful adoration! Let us do so now. Amen.
