Matt 23:8 But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, [even] Christ; and all ye are brethren.
"Master" here means "Teacher", or some say, "Leader". The admonition is to avoid the desire for personal distinction so common among God's leaders. Let our eyes be fixed upon Him and depend upon the Holy Spirit Who represents Him, and Who guides us into all Truth (Jn 16:13,14). The more we seek to exalt Him, the less we will think of magnifying ourselves. Make Him Master of your life today, remembering that, "The disciple is not above his Master" (Lk 6:40).
O, that we may be as our Master, the meek and lowly One! For this day, our Lord, we need great Grace as we seek to follow Thee as Master. Amen.
