Mt 21:11 And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.
This great demonstration had been planned by God and foretold by Him (Zech 9:9). Our Lord comes into Jerusalem riding upon the foal of an ass. The croud is vast; the enthusiasm is great. "Who is this?" is the cry; (as with the manna in the wilderness, they cried. "What is this?"), and the answer is, "This is Jesus, the Prophet of Nazareth." A despised Nazarene! A prophet from an obscure village! We are all proud if, perchance, we were born in some noted place; but God, when He took the form of a man, was born in a manger and made His home in Nazareth. For our sakes He became poor, that we through His poverty, might be made rich.
Let us meditate upon the riches of His Grace, bow at His feet and kiss them (Ps 2:12) as we adore Him; and may we walk humbly this day with the despised Nazarene. Amen.
