Matt 12:18 Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles.
Twenty-seven times in the Song of Solomon is this title used of our Lord. God's Son was a beloved Servant. How dear He was to the Father --- dear as the apple of His eye. Yet His love for us was manifest in the surrender of His Son to pay the penalty of our sin. "Greater love hath no man than this." "While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." (Ro 5:8). In the hour of darkness He cried, "My God, My God, WHY hast Thou forsaken Me?" The agony, the grief, the pain He suffered, all had a voice which rings out the message, "God so Loved...."
Our Father, Thy love for us has broken all the barriers down; and we pray that Thy Spirit may rest upon us this day as we meditate upon the greatness of Thy Love. Amen.
