Matt 2:23 And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene.
Nazareth was a town in the northern border of the plain of Esdraelon. Here came the angel Gabriel and announced to Mary the coming birth of Christ: "And the angel came in unto her, and said, 'Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women'" (Lk 1:26-28). On the night of His betrayal our Lord asked the question, "Whom seek ye?" They replied, "Jesus of Nazareth" and He said, "I am He." John 18:6 "As soon then as he had said unto them, I am [he], they went backward, and fell to the ground."
Jesus of Nazareth, may we never be ashamed to be called the followers of the lowly (Mighty) Nazarene! Amen.
