      Lame 3:24 The LORD [is] my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.

      Jeremiah was a God-chosen and God-ordained man and was honored with a peculiar fellowship WITH God. But the door is open to every child of God to have fellowship WITH Jesus Christ if he wills to accept it. "Behold I stand at the door and knock," He says. How strange it is that He has such difficulty in getting us to open the door to Him, and to understand what He is and what He wants to be to us. "The Portion" is Himself. The Giver is more than the Gift. Let us seek to avail ourselves of the privilege of claiming Him as "Our Portion".

      Loving Lord, may we live in the consciousness of the wonderful fact that Thou art "Our Portion" forever. Amen.
